Hi! More to come. Please check Remind messages! There is a definite need for parent volunteers this year!
Hopefully, the extra week off has given you time to finish your summer reading and complete all of your online math tutorials. We'll hit the ground running, so please make sure you're prepared! The library needs a little bit of time to setup, so an Accelerated Reader book is important to have at the beginning. A sharpened pencil is always a necessary tool.
Please be aware that mission, state, and country reports will be beginning shortly. This is large project, which will take time and effort. Starting early is a must. Be on the lookout for information regarding these reports this week or next. For the 6th graders, the following countries have resources available in our school library. You may definitely choose another country, but that will mean that you need to visit another library or book store to acquire information because there is the need to use multiple sources for this report rather than just using the Internet.
So, during the first weeks, we missed her. We missed her artistic nature, we missed her insight, we missed her athleticism, we missed her voracious appetite for reading...we just missed Ava.
Then, one day, as I walked out of the office to pick up the class for the day, students from everywhere shouted, "She's back! She's back! Ava is back!"
Yes, she has returned and simply brings so much to our school. She is a quiet leader, participating in student council and the Recycling Club. She is a responsible student, always asking for missing work on days where she cannot attend. Ava is meticulous, making sure that her work is as close to perfection. With this characteristic, Ava is clearly our best artist, and her design became Cobb School's t-shirt and sweatshirt logo. This attention-to-detail also allowed Ava to do tremendously well in her science project where she compared the sight of an eagle to the sight of a human. Ava never struggles to meet her Accelerated Reader goal, scoring many points every trimester. On the field, Ava is one of our fastest milers and is also a member of a traveling soccer team. In her spare time, you'll find Ava practicing her guitar and singing like a bird. In my opinion, her rendition of John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Road" was the best performance at last year's talent show. Ladies and gentleman, she's a show stopper.
As you can tell, when she was gone, we sure did miss Ava. We're glad she's back, and we're glad she's Cobb's Student of the Month.
